MEW USED: REVIVE! [...] THE BLOG WAS REVIVED!

Maybe it's time to start this old bugger up again.

So, I promised some pics for my love, and here they are. No idea why they are all green-ish though.

Oh, and Newton says "HI!" :)

Hemlängtan

Sometimes I miss home. I miss being home. I miss being where I know I belong, where I can feel at home.

And I miss you, all the time.

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Snapped a picture very quickly, before the doors to the metro began to close. Here it is. Florenc.

The Fry Bread Complication

Yesterday evening I was going to have nice, indian food with rice. The only thing lacking was bread to dip in the sauce, you know, indian style. I didn't find the bread I wanted in the supermarket (everytime I find anything at all in that place I'm surprised...), so I decided to make my own. The problem was, or the first problem I should say, was that my apartment doesn't have an oven in it. So, how do you make bread without an oven? You fry it.

After a bit of browsing on the internet, I found a nice site with recipes for different kinds of native american fry bread. Here comes my next problem. Almost every recepie had baking powder in it. HOW THE FUCK shall I find baking powder in a store where:

1.nobody speaks english,
2.the milk doesn't go bad even if it is stored out of the fridge for 3 months (i.e. there's no logic), and
3. the only description on EVERY SINGLE PRODUCT is in either czech or slovak?!

The answer is, you don't. Luckily I found a recipe where yeast was used instead of baking powder. It only took about 15 minutes of running back and forth in the food store to find it.

The bread, by the way, turned out really good. It's looks like thin bread and tastes like something between pancakes and bagels, and it's very good served warm with either butter or honey. The recipes you can find here:

Also, I just have to mention one more thing. Czech republic is craaaaaaaaazy. I found a bottle of wine in the store, and it cost about 10-15 kronor. I bet it wasn't the best wine in the country, but still. Crazy!!

JQKWÅPAOHIFJKiuhf aw eqäaoe

TIRED. Fell asleep on the couch about an hour after I got home, while semi-watching an early episode of Futurama. Blergh.... These days really make me exhausted!

When I got out of the office about 16.45 there was a LOT of fog going on. Usually, from my apartment there's a gorgeous view of the whole of Prague (I live on the top of a hill) and all the lights of the city sparkle between the tree branches of the forest on the hillside. Today, there was nothing but darkness, which made me a bit sad. However, it was beautiful in it's own kind of way.

Did you know that every city has a smell? Yeah, Prague has one too, and it's actually not a very flattering smell. I'll explain:
An observation I've made about Prague is that everywhere you go, there are dogs. That would not have been a problem, in fact, I kind of love dogs, if not the czech people had been so bad at picking up their dog's poo. Instead, now, there's dogpoo EVERYWHERE; on the sidewalk, and on every little grassy plot you could find. You have to jump around like an idiot to avoid stepping in it. As the snow is melting because of the spring weather we already got over here, it's very wet on the ground. The result: the town smells of dog poo.

Finally, I woke up today feeling rather suicidal as one does on mornings when you don't really want to wake up just yet. However, after checking my phone, this morning suddenly turned into something that was actually quite worth waking up for. Thank you again, love, for making my day. You know I love you more than anything.

Oh, btw folks. I have a czech mobile number now; +420 77 59 77 435. And with that said, I'm gonna go back to sleep.

Peace

Some pictures

The first weekend in Prague is almost over. I've spent the most of it shopping for things I forgot at home, and a little of it on exploring. I found a nice tattoo/piercing studio quite close to where I live, and a nice Australian shop that always seem to be closed. Also I've found out where I can buy new insence when I need it.

So long! // Mew

Zzzzzz......

End of the week, I'm tired as hell. Couldn't sleep last night so stayed awake until about 4 AM. That totally sucked :P Also all the new things and impressions are overwhelming.

Today I threw the garlic porridge in the trash can. It felt terribly good. I imagined I would never eat it again, and defenitely not ever try to make it again without knowing that the ingredients really are what they seem to be.

For those who don't know about it, I tried to make a delicious quinoa salad. However, what I thought was quinoa was not, and what I though was feta cheese was not, and just about everything went wrong and I ended up with smelly, disgusting garlic porridge instead of my delicious salad.

Instead, today I made a really nice mushroom salad, and I got the wonderful idea to put it on a wheat tortilla. I did not fail this time, but then again, I checked the ingredients very well before buying them.

As today being the first free day here in Prague, I decided to go to the city for exploring. I did some exploring, and I even found the water. It is a really pretty city. I'll try and snap some pictures tomorrow!

Here's also a little thingy I made this evening. Behold, Aslan of Narnia. I'm thinking about painting this as a real, oil painting. Mayhaps, in the future.

I'm off to sleep. This is Evergrey signing out.

First Post

Good evening from Prague!

This is intended to be a blog about my mighty adventures in Prague, the winter to early summer of 2011.
Firstly, some basic information; I'm going to stay here for half a year, working as an Assistance Coordinator for EuroAlarm. EuroAlarm work with customers of Europeiska Reseförsäkringar and other travel insurance companies. The insured who contact us have gotten in some kind of trouble during their time abroad, and it is our task to help them according to the instructions of the insurance company.
I will try to update this shit as often as possible :)

Peace, mewska
